The Convenor
Dr Olanrewaju Kazeem Bakinson
Aare Mayegun of Owu Kingdom
Dr Olanrewaju Kazeem Bakinson is a community builder, philanthropist and traditional titleholder whose life's work sits at the meeting point of education, enterprise and service. As Aare Mayegun of Owu Kingdom, he carries a responsibility to his people that he has translated into concrete, measurable programmes rather than ceremony alone.
A body of work, not a single event
The Ajiboshin Symposium is his most visible initiative, the one that gathers governors, royal fathers, technologists and scholars in a single room. But it is the summit of a much broader body of work carried out year-round through the Ajiboshin Platform: scholarships for children who would otherwise leave school, capital for traders and artisans, medical outreach for communities far from a hospital, and mentorship for young people searching for a path.
Why this symposium, and why now
The 3rd edition carries the theme Community Development, Artificial Intelligence and National Leadership. It is a deliberate choice. Artificial intelligence is reshaping every economy on earth, and the question before Nigeria is whether that change will be something done to our communities or something built by them. The symposium exists to put that question in front of the people who can answer it.
“Leadership is not a title you wear. It is the distance between the promise you made and the life someone is actually living.”
Service to Owu Kingdom
As Aare Mayegun, he serves as a bridge between the traditional institution and the modern development sector, bringing partners, funding and attention to Owu Kingdom, while ensuring that the customs and authority of the throne are honoured in everything the Foundation does.
